John hesitantly showed the sketch to the victim.

“Yes! That’s him, I’m sure!” she said, wide eyed. Mascara lines had dried up on her cheeks.

It couldn’t be. John looked at the drawing again. Could it?

“I’ll make sure the detective in charge gets it. There’s someone waiting for you outside.”

 

“Hey bro, what’s up?” Matt said.

“Were you at the lakeside festival yesterday?”

“Yup, you should have come. It was awesome!”

John’s breath stopped.

“Did you meet a girl named Mary? Blond hair, green eyes?”

“Why do you ask?”

John ended the call and readied another sheet of paper.
